Privacy Policy

How we use personal information when you browse, contact us or place an order.

Effective and updated: 21 October 2026

Who is responsible?

SKY DRONEZA (PTY) LTD, trading as SkyDroneZA, is the responsible party for personal information processed to operate this store. Registration number: 2026/836924/07. Our business address is 5 Hemingway Dr, Orkney, North West, 2619, South Africa.

For privacy requests, email info@skydroneza.co.za with the subject “Privacy request”, or call 078 514 2740. Address your request to SKY DRONEZA (PTY) LTD. You do not need to place an order to raise a privacy question.

Information collected and where it comes from

  • Enquiries and orders: details you give us, such as your name, email, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses, chosen products, order notes, correspondence and return or warranty information. If someone orders for you, they may supply your delivery details.
  • Accounts and transactions: account identifiers, order history, order status, amounts, delivery records and payment references where a payment method is available. Provide another person’s details only when you have authority to do so.
  • Website use: your browser sends technical information needed to request pages and images, including an IP address, browser/device details and request times. Shopping sessions use cookies and related session records.
  • Reviews: information you choose to submit in a product review may appear publicly with your display name. Do not include private contact, payment or identity information in a review.

Fields marked as required are needed for the requested step, such as processing an order or arranging delivery. Optional notes and marketing choices are voluntary. Without necessary contact, order or delivery details, we may be unable to answer an enquiry, fulfil an order or provide the requested service. Do not send passwords, full card details or unnecessary identity documents by email or WhatsApp.

Why we use information

We use relevant information to respond to requests, administer the store and accounts, process and fulfil orders, arrange deliveries, handle cancellations, refunds and warranties, prevent misuse, resolve disputes and keep required business records. Processing relies on the applicable basis under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA): taking steps requested before a contract or performing it, meeting legal duties, protecting legitimate interests, or consent where required. A privacy notice does not make consent compulsory for unrelated marketing.

Who receives information

Access is limited to people and service providers who need relevant information for the task. This can include authorised store administrators and support staff; website hosting, maintenance and email providers; the courier or supplier handling an agreed delivery or warranty; professional advisers; and authorities where disclosure is legally required. We disclose the information needed for that purpose, rather than an unrestricted customer record.

The website uses WordPress and WooCommerce, with Hostinger website tools, Elementor and LiteSpeed caching. These tools support the store; installing software does not mean every software vendor receives your order details. Payfast is installed but is not currently configured as an available live payment method. Before using a payment service, check the method actually offered at checkout and its privacy information.

Some page resources are requested from external hosts, including Google Fonts and product-image hosts operated by DJI and African Drone Solution. Loading those resources sends the provider technical request information, such as your IP address and browser details. If a Gravatar avatar is displayed, the avatar service may receive an email-derived identifier and technical request information. Clicking a WhatsApp link takes you to WhatsApp; messages you choose to send are also handled under that service’s terms and privacy practices.

Providers may process information outside South Africa. Any transfer we arrange must meet POPIA’s cross-border requirements, including appropriate protection through applicable law or binding arrangements, or another lawful ground. Contact us for information about a provider relevant to your request or order.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies help keep the basket and login working. The cookies used depend on the features you use. Typical WordPress/WooCommerce cookies include:

Cookie or featurePurposeTypical duration
woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cartRecognise changes to the shopping basket.Browser session.
wp_woocommerce_session_*Connect your browser with its stored basket.Usually two days.
WordPress login and cookie-test cookiesSupport secure sign-in and test cookie availability.Session-based; “Remember me” can keep a login for about two weeks.
Recently viewed products or notice preferences, if usedRemember a viewed-product list or dismissed store notice.Usually the browser session.

You can inspect, block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies can prevent sign-in, retaining a basket or completing checkout. Deleting cookies does not erase order records held by the store.

WooCommerce campaign/order-attribution tracking is switched off, and the unconnected Hostinger Reach email-marketing integration is inactive. New advertising, analytics or marketing tracking must be disclosed, with an appropriate choice or consent mechanism where required, before it is enabled.

Marketing messages

Buying a product or making an enquiry does not automatically give consent to unrelated promotional messages. Electronic direct marketing must follow POPIA’s consent or permitted existing-customer rules and offer a way to object or unsubscribe. You may object to direct marketing at any time by contacting us. Necessary order, delivery, security or support messages are separate from promotional mail.

How long information is kept

Retention depends on the purpose and applicable legal duties. Enquiries are kept while they are needed to respond and address follow-up issues; account data while needed to administer the relationship; and order, invoice, return and payment-reference records for relevant accounting, tax, warranty and dispute requirements. Records subject to a legal obligation or unresolved claim may need to be kept longer. Information no longer needed must be deleted, de-identified or otherwise handled as the law requires.

Retention and deletion requests are currently reviewed manually; the store does not promise an automatic deletion date. Contact us to ask what is held, why it is still needed and whether it can be removed. Closing an account or withdrawing marketing consent does not necessarily remove records that must lawfully be retained.

Security

The website uses HTTPS for data in transit. We must apply reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information and risks, restrict access and address security incidents as required by law. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your account credentials private and contact us promptly if you suspect misuse. Where a security compromise requires notification, we will follow the applicable POPIA process.

Your rights and requests

Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we hold your information and request access, correction or deletion; object to qualifying processing; withdraw consent where consent is the basis; or object to direct marketing. Some requests have lawful exceptions or prescribed procedures. We may ask for proportionate identity or authority verification before disclosing or changing records. We will explain any lawful refusal, further information needed or applicable fee before proceeding. Withdrawing consent does not undo earlier lawful processing.

You may complain directly to the Information Regulator (South Africa), including by emailing POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za. Its contact page provides current details and its complaints page explains the prescribed process. You do not have to waive this right to use our support service.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when material store practices change and show the revised date. Where a new purpose requires additional notice or consent, updating this page alone does not replace that requirement.
